November 2010 Meeting Minutes

Here’s the news from Tuesday’s meeting……

The meeting started with a question regarding exporting photos from IPhoto, being pulled from original file in pictures under the User file. When the exporting box comes up, one needs to replace “Use file name” with “Use Title name”. Thus solving the problem.

More discussion on using and posting items on our forum website. If you haven’t tried it yet, you should. It is a great place to get answers to any type of questions you have. If it is something you would like a class about at our Mac Group meetings please do a post and we will do our best to fill your request.

An announcement of the opening of Huppins up towards the North Division “Y”. They have a Mac section at the back. They sell Mac TV’s (the plugs needed to play your computer on your TV). The perfect thing for watching your computer movies on the big screen.

For our main discussion, Jay Sorenson gave a great presentation on using the “Keychain” provided on our Macs. Any time you enter a password, and the system asked you if you want it remembered, it goes into the Keychain. This can only be accessed by a password, usually your administration sign on password is the default. So all your passwords could be locked under the Keychain, accessed by only one password. The one downside is that you HAVE to have the admin. password. But so great if you have a dozen that you are trying to keep track of. Firefox does not send to Keychain, so be careful of that. An easy way to find Keychain is the the Q box, type in Keychain. A couple things to remember is: always use “Confirm before Allowing Access” and “Allow Once”. Don’t forget to read the “Help” for a walk through. That really makes things easier. You can even create a “New Keychain” for private passwords not on apple, or private notes you might need.

Well that about did it. Please let us know if there are any topics you would like to have presented. See you at the next meeting.

Sincerely, Linda, Secretary

October 2010 Meeting Minutes

Here’s the news from Tuesday’s meeting……

What a fun meeting this was. Carl gave the presentation on Music Time Deluxe. This is a music system that Carl uses for his music needs. He demonstrated making your own music, doing arrangements of instruments, also piano, and choir. Starting with a blank or empty music score, adding or subtracting Staves, Cliffs and Measures, as well as adding words. We each had a chance to add notes of our choice to create a song for the evening. Some of us were not to musical, and when the notes played back it was very interesting to say the least. If you are into creating your own music, and would like to find out more about Music Time, log into our Forum and ask some questions. I’m sure Carl can get you some answers.

Also mentioned was the Apple Card, and Extra Warranty if you have one that is running out. Come see Sean and Jack at Strong Solutions to have a good computer check-up. They could save you some money while still under warranty.

One question brought up concerned finding your Apple ID. to manage your Apple ID’s for ITunes, IChat, MobileMe and such. The site was given as myappleid.com, or appleid.apple.com. Check it out….

Well that about did it. Please let us know if there is anything you would like to have presented. See you at the next meeting.

Sincerely, Linda, Secretary
